Household Income

Maynard household incomes cluster in the $75k–$150k range — above the Massachusetts median, but below the heights you'd see in neighboring Acton or Sudbury. That gap is part of the town's appeal: close to the Route 2 and I-495 tech corridors, at a relative discount.

Occupation & Industry

Management and professional occupations dominate — a reflection of the region's tech and biotech employment base. The former DEC complex is now Mill & Main Place, home to Penguin Solutions (formerly Stratus Technologies) and a mix of professional services firms. Most of Maynard's workforce commutes out along Routes 2 and 495.

Getting to Work

The Assabet River Rail Trail connects Maynard to the South Acton commuter rail station — about 45 minutes to North Station on the Fitchburg Line. Most residents still drive. But the town's walkable core and trail access mean car-free commuting is genuinely feasible for some, especially those working locally or in Acton.

Poverty & Economic Need

Poverty rates in Maynard are low relative to the state average, though not negligible. The town does not have the sharp wealth concentration of some MetroWest neighbors, which contributes to a more economically mixed community than its housing prices might suggest.
